Since reform and opening up, China’s economic strength increases continuously, andpeople’s living standards have been greatly improved. However, the income gap betweenurban and rural residents is widening year after year, this phenomenon affects not only thesocial stability, but also the development of economy. At present, in the new historical period,it is proposed on eighteenth National Congress of Communist Party of China that grossdomestic product (GDP) and urban and rural residents’ income will be doubled by2020compared that by the year of2010. While, Xinjiang has an important strategic position inChina not only for the reason that it is the area inhabited by ethnic minorities, but one of theprovinces in which live relatively large amounts of impoverished people, the further wideningof income gap becomes incentives of series social contradictions in this province. Therefore,the research of the income gap between urban and rural residents has realistic meaning toXinjiang’s great leap forward development and long lasting social stability.The core content of this paper is comparative analysis on income gap between urban andrural residents, which is based on current development status of Xinjiang, it is supposed toadopt literature research, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,demonstration analysiscombines with normative analysis, with the help of statistic yearbook of Xinjiang UyghurAutonomous Region, extraction on related data publically released by cities and autonomousprefectures in Xinjiang to conduct the income analysis between urban and rural residents; andit is proposed to adopt factor analysis through the data established based on time sequence tocarry out the comprehensive analysis on the change of gap towards the comparative analysisbetween urban and rural resident in31provinces of China and14cities and autonomousprefectures in Xinjiang.The starting point and foothold of the analysis on income gap between urban and ruralresidents is to narrow the gap. Through analysis, it is found that the phenomenon come outdue to various factors like nature, economy, political policy, humanity and society etc. Aftercomparison of the analysis and the current developing status in Xinjiang, this paper givesstrategy and suggestion for narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents inXinjiang. Insist on sustainable development; strengthen the economic capacity; reform theeconomic system; enhance and perfect the social insurance system both in urban and ruralareas; focus more on education industry.
