An Empirical Study Of Tourists’ Stated Climate Prefefences On The Dongshan Island Of Fujian Province

Coastal tourism is widely popular among people, it has broad prospects for development, and it has an extensive development on a global scale.Climate factors and climate changes have a very close relationship with coastal tourism. In recent years, with global climate change presents a significant warming trend, the climate produces more obviously influence on the coastal tourism.Thus, coastal tourism climatology research has important significance for the development of coastal tourism. On the basis of reading and carding the related research literature, this paper takes Dongshan Island as an example, analyzes the climate conditions, explores the relationship between tourism development and climate, and investigates the tourists’climate perception of the island. The study of tourists’climate preferences can make sure that what kind of weather and climate conditions is the most appropriate to carry out tourism activities, which can provide a scientific reference for tourism destination marketing decisions.On the basis of the comprehensive research of previous studies, this paper has conducted a field questionnaire surveys with502visitors visiting the Dongshan Island in Fujian, and has tested the proposed hypotheses.The research results show that most visitors think the climate is the third influencing factors when to make a tourism destination choice; In the various weather variables, tourists think comfortable temperature is the most important; Visitors think the ideal travel temperature is between25and29℃, the ideal time of rain is lasted1hour, the ideal wind is the breeze and the moderate wind, the ideal sky condition is25%cloud cover of sunny days and50%cloud cover cloudy weather; Climate change will cause beach area more and more narrow, and it has a negative effect on the tourists’travel decisions. Because the above research results can only partially confirm the previous studies, this paper suggests that the tourists’climate preference research should be further strengthened in China, so as to compensate the inadequacy of existing researches. Combined with the discovery climate related problems of tourism development on Dongshan Island, this paper puts forward some measures and proposals to improve the Dongshan island tourism development.
