Research On The Impact Of Social Capital On The Performance Of Farmers’ Professional Cooperatives

To solve the small and large problem(small scale and large groups, small farmers and large market)in agricultural production and management,farmers voluntarily organized,self-operation,self-management,together-development,have formed a new kind of agricultural operation mode—farmers’ professional cooperatives. It appears,to improve the organization degree of farmers, reduce the risk of farmers to enter the market transactions, an increase of farmers’ income and promote the prosperity and development of the rural economy and society. Especially in recent years, with the country’s emphasis on agriculture, rural areas and farmers problems,farmers’ professional cooperatives in terms of quantity and quality have been an unprecedented development in China. However,rapid development at the same time there are also many problems: small scale,radiation impetus ability is weak,the low degree of specialization, internal operation is not standardized, the management system is unsound, farmers cooperation consciousness, etc.,and have restricted the development of cooperatives.In this paper, twenty farmers’ professional cooperatives in changyuan county as a sample, collecting data through questionnaires, build social capital affects the performance of the cooperative model equation and determine the trust between members,the trust between members and managers, the members of cooperatives trust, contractual specification, the interpersonal network of managers,the external networks of cooperatives six independent variables, this nascent attempts from the perspective of social capital, to study the mechanism of their influences on the cooperatives’ performance,so as to put forward countermeasures to break the cooperative development dilemma. Specific research hypothesis: 1. The trust is positively correlated with the cooperative performance. 2. Contractual specification is positively correlated with the cooperative performance. 3. Networks are positively correlated with the cooperative performance.On this basis, the regression analysis using linear model, this paper draws the conclusion:six variables have significant impact on performance of cooperatives, including:the external networks of cooperatives is the most significant, followed by the members of cooperatives trust, the trust between members and managers, contractual specification,the interpersonal network of managers are significant at the 5% level,the trust between members is significant at the 10% level.Therefore, social capital has an important positive influence on the development of cooperatives, a farmers’ professional cooperative of internal trust unity, sound system, democratic management, broad external networks tends to produce higher performance.By analyzing the overall current situation and outstanding problems of farmers’ professional cooperatives in changyuan county,according to the theoretical research and empirical test results, puts forward some suggestions from the perspective of social capital, such as strengthening the internal communication and publicity and education,to strengthen the construction and management of cooperative standardization, expanding external relations network of cooperatives, increasing the support of policy and funds,training and mining outstanding management talents, etc.
