Study On Vegetable Price Fluctuation In Jingzhou

Vegetables are seasonal agricultural products.Vegetables, the daily necessities, meet the needs of the people’s daily life.The biggest difference between vegetables and traditional food crops is that vegetables are cash crops without subsidies. With the seasonal characteristics,vegetables contact with the consumer market closely and have an important effect on the agricultural output and planting. On the one hand,the planting area and variety of vegetables are increasing. On the other hand, the return from vegetables not only becomes an important part of farmers’ land profits, but also plays an important role in ratio of agricultural output value and export of food crops. Jingzhou city is a big agricultural city, having a large proportion of farmers.In recent years, the development of vegetable industry is more rapid than farming, forestry and fruit industry.There is no doubt that vegetable industry has becoming a pillar industry in increasing farmers income.Due to the imbalance of vegetable industry development in Jingzhou,problems occur like blind imitation in vegetable production, transportation, and sales process, and lack of effective policy guidance.By comprehensive research on the vegetables price fluctuation in Jingzhou, this paper shows the specific factors in influencing vegetable price fluctuation.Based on the analysis of geographical features of Jingzhou, unique climate, vegetable planting cost, market circulation, sales and so on,this paper analyzes the factors in influencing vegetable price fluctuation and carrys out some suggestions on stabilising vegetable price. In the analysis of the relevant data, it is found that the fluctuation of vegetable price in Jingzhou is cyclical and seasonal, and when a new kind of vegetables reach to the market on a large scale,the prices decline, while when the market supply is less than demand, prices rise. Through the whole research,it is concluded that the vegetable market price in Jingzhou city showed an overall upward trend, but the price growth rate is relatively stable,vegetable production in Jingzhou city has advantages on location, climate, quality and so on,and less varieties of vegetables, small production scale, high cost of vegetables, and low added value of vegetables are the main factors in affecting the vegetables price fluctuation in Jingzhou city.Based on the analysis of the relationship between supply and demand of vegetables in Jingzhou City,it is showed that vegetable demand in Jingzhou is increasing.With the improvement of people’s living standard, the vegetables demand will further increase.Due to the imperfection of vegetable industry development in Jingzhou, the lack of professional, scientific, and large-scale vegetable planting base, the supply of vegetables can not meet consumer demand, which will inevitably lead to greater volatility in vegetables price.Based on the analysis of the vegetable market in Jingzhou City, it is showed that Jingzhou government actively implement the Hubei Province twelfth five-year plan and the"Vegetable Basket Project",actively solve problems such as high cost and low efficiency of planting vegetables,difficult to buying food and less expensive food for ordinary people, rely on science and technology to cultivate high quality vegetables, establish professional and large-scale vegetable base, reduce intermediate links in circulation from production to market, and reduce the circulation cost in order to stabilize the vegetables price in Jingzhou city.According to research on vegetable price fluctuation theories at home and abroad and the actual situation of Jingzhou City, this paper puts forward the following suggestions on the stability of vegetable price fluctuation in Jingzhou city:striving to improve product quality under the guide of oriented-market, promoting the progress of science and technology,standardizing production,adhering to sustainable development, paying attention to product quality and safety, improving the construction of the agricultural information platform,achieving more vegetables sales channels with the market information on vegetable cultivation for scientific guidance,reducing intermediate links in circulation,further reducing the circulation cost, supporting and strengthening the construction of vegetable wholesale market,and improving the vegetables market competitiveness.
