With the environmental problems highlighted ceaselessly, more and more countries are looking for the reasons, economic growth naturally become the focus of attention. Although the mode of economic development of different countries, but economic growth causes energy consumption growth in fact exists in every country. Compared with developed countries, the main engine of growth in the economy of our country’s foreign trade, growth in carbon emissions are mainly caused by export trade. Therefore, our country must realize the low carbon development of export trade, in order to ensure the sustainable development of the domestic economy. This paper is based on the economic growth and energy consumption theory, combining the development of China’s export trade, calculates the added since joining the WTO export trade embodied carbon emissions, the main content of the article is embodied in the following aspects:First of all, on the basis of since joining the WTO of China’s export trade data, using the non competitive input output model to estimate the empirical industry carbon emissions embodied in exports of absolute quantity and intensity of carbon emissions, data display and rapid development of export trade has brought the domestic carbon emissions multiplied. However, thankfully, industrial carbon emissions embodied strength decreased in recent years, showed that the low carbon economic development in China has achieved initial success.Second, some carbon intensive industries the export of Embodied Carbon emission ratio is not high, on the contrary, some low carbon intensity industry, its export implied carbon emissions accounted for a higher. This contrast is mainly due to the different industry export scale.Third, to reduce carbon emissions embodied in export, not only to encourage energy efficiency and clean technology, reduce industrial energy intensity and carbon emissions intensity, but also gradually compressed high energy consumption, high emission industry production and export scale, optimize the export structure. Therefore, China’s export trade to achieve low carbon development, must be through policy guidance, constantly adjust the export industry structure, upgrade the technological level of industries, improve energy efficiency level.
