The high-speed period of the railway in the rapid development of our country ease the phenomenon of less demand for passenger transport, but also has a greater impact for the air transport industry. In the country’s operating high-speed rail line, the loss of a large passenger aviation resulting in reduced flights, some airlines even stop operating certain routes. With the succession of Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway and Beijing-Shanghai, a larger high-speed rail line will be put into operation. What will be the impact of the civil aviation industry in the face of these impacts of high-speed railway and how to take measures to deal with this is the research of the article. The article researches the influence of the factors of high-speed on civil air in three aspects: the travel distance, travel prices and the technical and economic characteristics and conclude the competition between high-speed railway and civil aviation by the advantages and disadvantages. The competition specifically including the following three aspects: first, high-speed rail is dominant in the short-distance transport, the alternative of high-speed rail and aviation is reflected in the long-distance transport; second, in general the price of the high-speed railway is lower than civil aviation, within the simple and easy procedure, civil aviation should win discounted fares in the competition; third, the different demand of residents travel make the aviation industry had to improve their quality of service levels. Furthermore the article researches the competition between high-speed rail and aviation by the Beijing-Shanghai link, using the data to illustrate the high-speed rail’s passenger diversion from civil aviation. Then the article uses a passenger-sharing model called LOGIT model to research the sharing passenger rate between high-speed rail and air from Beijing to Shanghai based on transport distance. The article uses the relative share rate draw competitive distance between high-speed railway and civil aviation after the research of the model results. The results show that the share rate of high-speed rail market declining faster with increasing transport distance when the transport distance is within the range of 400-1200 km. With further increase in the transport distance, high-speed railway will gradually withdraw from the competition. From what has done above, the article uses empirical analysis to research the competition between high-speed rail and civil aviation with cross-sectional data and proves the price difference and the travel time difference between the two is the prime impact of high-speed and rail in the competitive distance range. This is the supplement and further analysis of the previous content. The civil aviation must offer more discount tickets to attract customers and shorten the waiting time in order to win the competition with the high-speed rail. Finally, the article supplies some specific development proposals in coping with high-speed rail competition for civil aviation according to the research in this paper. |
