Research On Software Project Evaluation Based On The Acquisition And Analysis Of Process Data

With the rapidly development of the information industry, our dependency on software increases continuously. Most of today’s goods and services are realized, at least partially or completely with the help of software systems. In spite of the prosperity of the software industry, the success rate of software projects remains relatively low. The common problems of software projects include cost and schedule overruns, along with quality failing to meet the requirements of customers.Based on the study of unsuccessful software projects, lack of reasonable project evaluation systems is an important reason for the failure of projects. In this case, project teams always take a lot of time and effort to execute project evaluation, but fail to get the actual situation of projects. Therefore, this paper proposes to establish a software project evaluation system based on the acquisition and analysis of process data to evaluate project with quantitative index scientifically. With data acquisition system, evaluation process can be institutionalized and simplified. In the meantime, on the basis of data mining, the relationships between software project data items are analyzed to serve for all kinds of decision-making, to reach quantitative management level (CMMI4) for software organizations.This paper starts with the introduction of concepts and theories of software project management, project evaluation and software metrics. Then, based on software project work analysis, the necessity of project evaluation is put forward and the work breakdown structure and man-hour structure of software projects are studied. After that, evaluation index system, evaluation models and evaluation system are structured from the full life cycle of a single project, as well as the organizational level. Afterwards, based on the data source analysis of evaluation index, the acquisition methods and system of process data are designed. In the end, the feasibility of the software project evaluation system is testified with a case study.
