In the past 50 years, China’s the rare earth industry has made remarkable achievements, we have become the biggest producer, the application and consuming country of rare earths in the world. But with the continuous development and the improvement of market economy, the problems of the rare earth industry in China have exposed, and the problems are more and more highlighted. From the rare earth market, after the skyrocketing prices in 2011, application market of rare earth downstream has been hit, the international market is sluggish, domestic market is shrinking, prices of product continue to decline, enterprise loss is serious. Although our country remained technology advantage in the field of rare earth smelting separation, but in the field of the rare earth new materials which are applied widely, but there are some problems of serious overcapacity primary products, export campaign with low price, worse product performance and industrialization preparation technology compared with developed countries, and the international competitiveness is not strong. From the perspective of the development of the industry, throughout the domestic rare earth enterprises, everyone is racing to develop, we have a large gap with the developed capitalist countries in industry scale, technology and equipment, quality control and basic management, etc. In the face of the current situation of the macro development of rare earth industry in China, adjusting the industrial structure, the transformation of the mode of economic growth and controlling the total production, are the right choices we should make for the rare earth industry developmentThis article selects Gansu Rare Earth Group’s development strategy as the subject, from the perspective of strategic management, strategic innovation, technology innovation, through empirical research, comparative analysis, porter analysis, SWOT analysis and other research methods, absorbs and draws lessons from a large number of existing research results, analyzes and demonstrates Gansu Rare Earths Group macro environment, micro environment and internal resources, and ability In detail, searches the factors of the optimal combination, puts forward some implementation plans and countermeasures to optimization Gansu Rare earth Group’s development strategy.
