Study Of Influence Factors Of Triple Performance For Farmer’s Professional Cooperatives

Organizational performance evaluation has been the focus of academic research, while professional cooperative of farmers as the organization with the nature of business and collective contract alliance, the performance of it is really a difficult point in the research. Especially with the promulgation and implementation of the Professional Cooperative Law of Farmers in July 1,2007, the research on the performance of farmers’ professional cooperatives and its influencing factors is essential to the sustained and healthy development of cooperatives.The existing studies of cooperative performance mainly focuse on theoretical discussion, which put the cooperative performance as a whole to analyze, and is lack of empirical research. This paper uses structural equation model to analyze the relationship among internal and external environment, production operation of farmers’professional cooperative, cooperative governance structure, and the triple performance of cooperative economy, society and environment. In order to find out the key factors affecting the cooperative performance, further improve the cooperative performance and promote the long-term and sustainable development of cooperatives, the related suggestions are put forward.Firstly, this article has carried on the literature review of the connotation of the farmers’professional cooperative and the triple performance and the related theory. It respectively introduces the factors which influence the performance of the farmers’ professional cooperative in the aspect of economy, society and environment. Secondly, combining with cooperative governance theory and the theory of performance evaluation, this thesis established theoretical analysis framework and designed the questionnaire. Thirdly, it used the way of field investigation and one-on-one interview to get questionnaire survey. Lastly, according to the 75 cooperative questionnaires collected in 11 regions of Jiangsu Province, the article has carried on data analysis. It has also carried on the reliability analysis, validity analysis and factor analysis of the data obtained by using SPSS 17.0, and structural equation model analysis by using the software of Smart PLS has also been carried on based on this.The empirical results show that the cooperative external industrial environment and the internal environment of having good cooperation relationship between cooperative and the local leading enterprises, not only affect the economic and social performance by influencing the cooperative governance structure, but also these external industry base and government supervision and management of cooperative directly impact on the economic and social performance of cooperative. At the same time, the more cooperative service, the higher unified management level, the greater impact on the environmental performance of cooperative.The thesis finally puts forward the path to achieve the triple performance of the farmers’ professional cooperative. To improve the cooperative economic performance must focus on the external basis conditions, ownership concentration and the ability that cooperative arrange production according to the marketing information; improving the social performance of cooperative must pay attention to the external management, internal material conditions, ownership concentration and flexible production; while the environmental performance can be improved by these three factors: internal conditions, internal supervision and improving the cooperative service. The article eventually puts forward relevant policy suggestions to promote the development of farmers’ professional cooperative, summarizes the limitation of it and points out the future research orientation.
