Electric vehicle industry is one of the strategic emerging industries in China. As the technical system is complex, electric vehicle industry has the characteristics of cross industry innovation. To improve the relevant technical knowledge flow efficiency, is the key to the technological catching-up and industrial upgrading. This study use patent data to research on the technological knowledge system of electric vehicle from the perspective of knowledge flow, objectively evaluate the efficiency of knowledge flow in cross industry innovation of electric vehicles, identify the key factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge flow, put forward feasible suggestions to enhance industrial efficiency of knowledge flow, and provide a theoretical basis for the management practice of strategic emerging industries.This study use patent data from Derwent World Patents Index. By establishing a database of downloaded electric vehicle patents, using patent information analysis and social network analysis, constructed a co-occurrence network of technology fields, the innovation cooperate network, cross industry innovation knowledge transfer network and the "industry-patentee" 2-mode co-occurrence network. The results show that the electric vehicle technology knowledge network and the patentee cooperation network has obvious clustering phenomenon, the core technology is divided into three major clusters-A. the electric drive and control technology; B. metal and compound technology; C. polymer technology. The whole industry is divided into three major subgroups:A. Japanese electric vehicle research and development cooperation group; B. American electric vehicle research and development cooperation group; C. Korean electric vehicle research and development cooperation group. Electric vehicle involved 19 industries, motor vehicle, electrical machinery, other transportation, machinery, instruments, electronic equipment, computer and office equipment, chemical and metal products industries are the core of network; TOYOTA, PANASONIC, SANYO, HONDA, GE, NISSAN, GM, HITACHI, SAMSUNG and KOBE are the core enterprises in the cross industry innovation. Based on the patent data and knowledge network structure indexes, using Data Envelopment Analysis evaluate the efficiency of knowledge flow in the across industry, results show that the knowledge flow efficiency of computer and office equipment industry and the automotive industry are the highest, and the knowledge flow efficiency of other transportation, machinery, electrical machinery, instruments and other industries are higher than the overall average. Finally, using input-output analysis method, calculate the influence coefficient and sensitivity coefficient, the correlation analysis show that industrial technical knowledge relevance has significant effect on the efficiency of knowledge flow. |
