Research On The Promotion Of Xi’an City’s Comprehensive Competitiveness

In 2010, China launched a new round of western development, the next 10 years would be a critical period to further promote the development of the past and the West, the state adheres to priority in-depth implementation of western development strategy in the overall strategy for regional development, and give a special policy support, the western region would be in the great strategic opportunity period. Xi’an is one of the important cities in the western region, has an important role in the western development, and has an important strategic position in connecting other regions. But the economic and social development level of Xi’an still lags behind of the key cities in our nation relatively, and the changes in the competitive environment at home and abroad has put forward higher requirements on the development of Xi’an, especially the goal of international metropolis construction and construction of a new starting point of the Silk Road economic belt, its comprehensive competitiveness is the key to reach the goal. In this background, the research of Xi’an city’s comprehensive competitiveness is very necessary and urgent. A city cultivate and improve their comprehensive competitiveness, the key lies in finding the orientation of the city and optimizing the various resources inner the city reasonablely, so as to achieve the optimal development. Therefore, through this research, expect to understand the development situation and the comprehensive competitiveness level of Xi’an.By analysising the advantages and disadvantages, and the development opportunities in the urban, in order to enhance the city’s comprehensive competitiveness of Xi’an, and find a scientific and rational strategic direction.This paper based on the research achievements of scholars at home and abroad, the research used the method of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, theoretical analysis and empirical analysis. First of all, according to science, comparability and other principles, combined with the purpose of the study, in order to construct Xi’an city’s comprehensive competitivenessevaluation index system the empirical analysis selected 29 representative evaluation indexes and 16 contrast cities, including economic strength, industrial competitiveness, technological strength, degree of openness, the role of government and infrastructure. Then, the paper constructed evaluation model by using principal component analysis method, which based on the evaluation index system. Xi’an city’s comprehensive competitiveness of the evaluation results were comparative analysis by using SPSS20.0 statistical analysis software. From the result we can see Xi’an had a large gap in terms of some competitive indicators compared with eastern cities even some western cities. Finally, based on the above quantitative analysis, combined with the analysis of Xi’an city’s competitive advantages and disadvantages, and the strategic opportunity currently, the paper proposed some countermeasures to enhance Xi’an city’s comprehensive competitiveness.
