Research Of TFP And Its Infulencing Effects On Chongqing Equipment Manufacturing Industry

The equipment manufacturing industry is an important industry in national economy and national defense construction, its task an mission is to provide means of production for national economy and national defense construction. The core of manufacturing is equipment manufacturing, it is the foundation of the national economic development, especially of industrial development. Its development level largely reflects a nation’s comprehensive national strength.The national major equipment manufacturing industry is a strategic industry which has a strong relation with national economic security, national defense security. After years of efforts, equipment manufacturing industry in our country has get a fast development and our country has become one of the world’s manufacturing power.However. our equipment industry is facing the reality of “big but not strong”, the lack of core technology competence and the shortage of high-level technical personnel within this industry should not be ignored, it is urgent to solve these problems. Being an important old industrial base and national defense scientific research and production base in our country, also one of the top ten equipment manufacturing base, Chongqing has the good development foundation, the equipment industry play a pivotal role in the city’s industrial development.Under the environment of manufacturing’s low technical level in the western region, Chongqing equipment manufacturing faces the problems of innovation capability is not strong and its technical level is far behind the eastern region as well. Therefore,measuring the total factor productivity of Chongqing equipment manufacturing and exploring its influencing factors and then making a thorough inquiry of the reasonable countermeasures to promote total factor productivity undoubtedly have an important practical significance for Chongqing equipment manufacturing.This paper takes total factor productivity of Chongqing equipment manufacturing as the research object, on the basis of analyzing the productivity status at home and abroad, firstly, it analysis the current situation and the problems of Chongqing equipment manufacturing.Secondly, it measures and decomposes total factor productivity of Chongqing equipment manufacturing on the basement of DEA-Malquist index method to explore the change trend of total factor productivity, technical progress and technical efficiency according to sub-industry, so that we can learn about the development status of the total factor productivity of Chongqing equipment manufacturing.Lastly, after studying and combing lots of history literature, in combination with industry characteristics of Chongqing equipment manufacturing,it puts forward 7 influencing effects of total factor productivity of Chongqing equipment manufacturing: R&D input, educational level of workers, industry scale, foreign direct investment, concentration ratio, profit status and industry policy, then using econometric model to empirical research. After the regression analysis of influencing effects, we get the result: industry scale, profit status and concentration ratio have a positive role in promoting the development of Chongqing equipment manufacturing; the influence of industry policy and educational level of workers is not significant; R&D input has significant influence on technical progress index, but not obvious on total factor productivity, so this influencing effect does little contribution to the development of industry; foreign direct investment has the negative correlation with total factor productivity, it shows that the entrance of foreign capital doesn’t play a positive role to the development of equipment manufacturing industry in Chongqing. At the end of this paper, it raises some corresponding policy recommendations for the Chongqing equipment manufacturing.
