The rapid growth of China’s economic development create favorable conditions for thechain supermarkets industry’s rapid development, but at the same time, chain supermarketsindustry is facing great challenges. The emerging supermarkets continuous influx has had ahuge impact on the original supermarke, and the status of the original supermarkets isthreatened and profit margins are getting smaller and smaller, especially for small andmedium-sized chain supermarket. As is known to all, logistics cost, which is a kind ofhidden cost, can bring the third profits for enterprises and is a powerful weapon to gaincompetitive advantages for supermarket. Supermarkets should discover the problems existingin the management of logistics costs and optimizing them, which can increase profit andenhance the competitiveness of supermarkets.This paper takes Shengda supermarket as the representative of the small andmedium-sized chain supermarkets to study the way of the optimize logistics cost. At first,consulting papers to understand the domestic and overseas research status about the chainsupermarket logistics cost management and its related theories by Literature method.Secondly, this paper analyzes the logistics status of Shengda and finding that some problemscan not be ignored on Shengda supermarket logistics cost management: the high logisticsdistribution cost, hidden costs of logistics distribution, warehousing costs is large, highertransaction costs. Then this paper analyze the causes of the problems in depth. The mainfactors are unscientific logistics cost management and accounting methods, logistics facilitiesand information systems are imperfect, low logistics standardization and normalization level,staff’s poor awareness of costs, low professional quality supermarket. Finally, based on theexisting problems of Shengda supermarket, combined with the Shengda’s actual situation,proposing recommendations and countermeasures of optimizing Shengda supermarketlogistics cost management, which include optimizing logistics management methods,improving logistics accounting system, accelerating the development of the supermarketlogistics facilities and cold chain, improving logistics information system, improving logisticsstandardization and normalization level, improving staff awareness, improving the level oflogistics cost management.
