Delhi City is the prefecture of HaiXi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous, and is the thirdlargest city except Xining City and Golmud City. It occupies an important position in thecountry’s western development strategy. For HaiXi Mongolian-Tibetan AutonomousPrefecture and the urban development of the whole western region, to study Delhi UrbanConstruction Land Expansion is important reference significance.Firstly, with the help of RS and GIS, the remote sensing image of Delhi1989TM,1999ETM and the land-use pattern of2011were analyzed and treated, the informationabout scope of built-up of this city was extracted by the method of visual interpretation ofhuman-computer interaction, and the figures of the built-up area of the three periods wereoverlaid. Then, the status of spatial expansion of Delhi built-up area was analyzed fromIntensity of Urban Expansion, Transfer of the Center of Gravity, Compact Index, FractalDimension Index and Urban Expansion Coefficient of Elasticity. The results showed that, both the area of Delhi Built-up area in the two stages were increasing, however, the rateand intensity of expansion of the built-up area was greater in1999to2011than which in1989to1999. The center of gravity of the built-up area was offset to the northwest, thecompact index was too small, and gradually reduced, the fractal dimension index wasmuch larger than the reasonable value of1.12, the morphology of urban spatial evolutionbecame more complex. The urban expansion coefficient of elasticity was too large, andthere was an upward trend, the increase of urban population and the expansion of urbanarea was inconsistent. Then, from the natural and geographical factors, socioeconomic factors, transportationand policy factors perspective, we analyze the urban construction land expansion of Delhicity. Topography, climate, geology and water resources and other natural and geographicalfactors are the basic condition of the urban construction land expansion. Urban populationgrowth, socio-economic development, transport facilities and important policy positioningis the important driving factor of Delhi’s urban construction land expansion. Delhi naturalgeographical factors determine the direction of the main body of urban expansion, urban construction should control the development of the north, the overall development of thesouth, moderate east and west extensions. Socio-economic factors directly affect thepotential for urban expansion, direction, speed, pattern and spatial structure. Finally, takes nearly a decade of date of social and economic environment for thesample data, to establish a multiple linear regression model, then to predict the next eightyears size of Delhi City, we hope to provide a reference for the future development plan ofDelhi City.
