Study On The Expansion Of Urban Using Land Scale In The Process Of Urbannization

Under the background of urbanization, the expansion of urban land is aninevitable outcome of the urban development. Presently, influenced by a variety offactors, the urban land expands to a record-breaking amount at an unexpected rate.While to what level the urban expansion will achieve to the best effect is up to itsrationality and feasibility. Since the expansion model varies to different cities, thispaper will take Kaifeng City in Henan Province as a case study; analyze the drivingforce and the reasonability of the urban land expansions on the basis of the relevanttheory.Chapter one, as an introduction, it will list the background, methods andsignificance of the research, provide an overview of the status of the related researchboth at home and abroad.Chapter two will provide the categorization, definition and summarization ofthe theories including: location theory, polar nucleus theory, gradient theory,agglomerate economy theory, land returns increasing and decreasing rules andoptimum-scale management theory.Chapter three will reveal the driving-force mechanism of the urban landexpansion specifically and systemically.Chapter four will mainly analyze the reasonability of the urban land scale.Firstly, problems arisen during the process of the urban land expansion will besummarized and examined, which will lead to the threshold of the expansion; then whether there exists the optimum-scale of the urban land will be discussed, based onthe detailed description of the expansion processes and models; the last part willpresent the standards to measure the reasonability of the urban land scale.Chapter five will take Kaifeng as the research object. First it will conduct thetheoretical analysis on the driving force of the urban land expansion in Kaifeng,among which the main force will be interpreted in the principal component analysistheory; then the paper will describe the urban land expansion model of Kaifeng, andits expansion quantity, speed, structure and effect; lastly, based on the theoretical andpractical analysis, the reasonability of its expansion will be measured, suggestionswill also be given, and then the prospect of the urban land expansion in the futurewill be predicted.Chapter six is the conclusion. According to the study, the urban land expansionis the result of interaction of internal and external factors; to raise the urban landutilization ratio and optimize its structure, efforts should be made to regulate andcontrol the urban land utilization by policies, not just by manipulating the objectivefactors such as population growth, economic and technological development. Finally,the study will present its possible creativity and its existing deficiencies.
