GH Hydropower Company (the “Company”) is a subsidiary company ofSinohydro Corporation, and belongs to jurisdiction of the State-owned AssetsSupervisionand Administration Commission(SASAC). The Company is founded in2007under the background of the Sinohydro Corporation developing from the“Post-hydro” time to the diversified market. The major business of SinohydroHarbour is port and waterway construction, dredging and reclamation etc. Withthe rapid development of domestic economy and increasing exports, prospects of portworks is promising and the development space is huge; besides the internationalmarket is also expanding accompanied by the recovery of the world economy.However, after comprehensive analysis of the whole market, it is not difficult to notethat the domestic market is dominated by the China Communications ConstructionCompany Limited (CCCC) and the CCCC is in an absolutely dominant position; asfor the international market, the trend of monopoly pattern by western several largeindustrial enterprises becomes intensified. So how the newly founded Company winsa place in the intensive competitive market and establish his own living space, thestrategic research is particularly important.This thesis focuses on the Company’s own reality, by making the in-depth analysisof the external market environment, and the detailed study of domestic and foreignmarket from the macro-environment, trying to find out the disparity and deficiencyfrom the comparative analysis of the competitiveness with competitors, thusscientifically establish his own strategic position, strategic goal, strategic policy andstrategy description, and makes practical supporting measures to establish sustainablecompetitive advantage and achieve the Company’s overall development goal.
