Within the absence of the formal public transportation and traffic issue in PhnomPenh (the capital city of Cambodia) and the researcher’s interest of public bus whilebeing peruse Master’s Degree in Wuhan (China), a study has been conducted in order toget understanding of people’s opinion toward public bus transportation development.This study conducted survey questionnaires in main locations of Phnom Penh city with203set of questionnaires to investigate respondents’ information such as socioeconomic,transport modes, trip characteristics, and opinion toward public bus development. Inaddition, a case study of Singapore’s public bus transportation also conducted in order toobserve the process, operation, and lesson learned.To get more detail of people’s opinion and study, ten main question statementsrelated to benefits of public bus and public’s intention or support which can help cruciallyexplaining the respondents’ interest and behavior toward public bus transportationdevelopment are measured by mean value. As results, the study is significant because themean values of each question provided value bigger than4and almost the same value. Inaddition, the Reliability of Statistics, which describe the consistency of questions and.70is acceptable percentage, also gave.862percent. The outcome of the study can help tounderstand of urban traveler’s interest and intention and shed some light on the publicbus transportation development in urban Phnom Penh. |
