With China’s rapid economic and social development, Chinese consumeattitudes and habits began to become increasingly fashionable, people caringfor their skin health and beauty are also increasing. Cosmetics has beengradually becoming a daily consumption for Chinese consumers. SCorporation, as a cosmetic retailer, has launched in the China market formore than seven years. Its expansion rate in China far exceeds the growthrate for China GDP. During this rapid development in recent years, the salesmotivation still has no change.Since the first store opened in China, S company now has more than100stores, spread throughout whole China, with which annual sales revenuemore than3billion RMB. As Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou-Shenzhen,the representative of first-tier cities have tended to market saturation, whilemore than30new stores well expand in the second and third tier cities annually. As vast territory as China, with fast but unbalanced regionaleconomic development, competitive state and adaptability of varying marketplaces is more important. Sales staff is the core competitiveness in consumercompanies, they directly affect the company’s performance. In this process ofrapid development, the requirements of company operation are alsoincreasing.In order to motivate sales staff more effectively, a sales staff survey of SCorporation based on modern human resources management theory wasconducted to find out existing problems of S’s actual motivation system.Optimization and suggestions for the motivation of S’s sales staff wereproposed on the basis of modern enterprise management strategy.This paper aims to optimize and improve the motivation to contribute totalent retention and release value, thus maintaining the company’s corecompetitiveness and sustainable development. Also I hope that this study ishelpful and meaningful for human resource management of the entirecosmetics industry, or retail sector.
