Supply chain management plays important role for every company’scompetitiveness. Company D faces serious issues due to insufficient serversupply. It’s imperative to formulate supply chain strategy for chassiscomponent which is key constraint component for server production. Tosolve the problems, this paper focuses on the research of clarifying supplychain roles and their responsibilities aiming at sustainable server production.The subject firstly analyzed operations models and historical data. Alsofound more issues by visiting supply chain management team. The mainproblems are serious shortages and supply disruptions, long lead time,complex supply management, and instable production capacity due toinsufficient labor and raw material constraints etc. After deep dive, rootcauses are identified as inaccurate forecast, product mix, and difficultmanagement of product for end of life, low transportation flexibility, andlabor shortages. Based on these, this research proposed strategic actionsincluding transportation flexibility enhancement, safety stock optimization,mechanism setting for material and supplier management, large ordercommunication process, labor supportability and early supply processestablishment. Specific action plans and implementing details are finallyformulated to minimize supply shortage of server chassis and to mitigatecomplexity in supply chain procurement.By simulation and prediction, the proposed strategy will solve currentproblems effectively for company D. The strategy, also seven stepsmethodology, safety stock model and RACI model used in this research, haveremarkable reference significance for similar products or within the industry. |
