Study Of The Rural Urbanization Driven By Tourism In Duanshi Village, Danxia Mountain

Urbanization is the national strategy of social and economic development, butalso a hot topic to scholars. Tourism is important emerging power to urbanization in someregions with rich tourism resources. Studying rural urbanization driven by tourism can expandand enrich theoretical contend of urbanization study and tourism study, which also provide atheoretical basis for diversified urbanization of China.The study took Duanshi Village in Danxia Mountain, World Heritage, as an example, usedinterviews and observation to collect a lot of first-hand observation data. This study used textanalysis method and process-event analysis method, to find out the tourism development ofDanxia Mountain played what kind of role in the rural urbanization of Duanshi Village, theprocess of urbanization of Duanshi Village and what was the dynamic mechanism. This studyfound that (1) the tourism participation of Duanshi village could be divided into three stages. Thefirst stage was from1980to1994. It was the infancy participation period. The second stage wasfrom1995to2004. It was the slowly development period. The third stage is from2005until now.It was quickly development period. And the ways of the participation could be concluded into:land-involved,employmentparticipation and operating participation.(2) With the development ofrural urbanization, the industry in Duanshi Village, the life style of the villagers, ideas andconcepts of the villagers and the landscape of the village had been changed. And the features ofthe rural urbanization in Duanshi Village could be called local urbanization,behaviour-urbanization and bottom-up urbanization.(3)During the rural urbanization process, theplight of agriculture, locational advantages and community empowerment promote thecommunity participation. The tourism development, the promotion of government and expertsand the outside capital also play an important role in the community participation. Then thevillagers realize the capital accumulation and concept change, and make the rural urbanizationcome true step by step.
