Research On The Impact Of Geographical Indications On Regional Agricultural Economy

China is a country with a long history and vast territory, the unique natural resources andlong history of farming have given birth to a great variety of geographical indication(GI)resources. To analyze the comprehensive value of GI in deep, especially its impact on theregional agricultural economy, has vital significance for developing and utilizing of GI better,protecting and promoting the development of related industries and propelling our country’seconomic and social progress.Based on a summary of the related research at home and abroad, this paper combines withthe specific development of GI in our country, aims to discuss the effects of GI on regionalagricultural economy from the angle of the comprehensive value of GI by applying the relevanttheories of regional economics, industrial economics and information economics and taking theresearch method that combing the theoretical analysis with empirical analysis. Firstly, the papermakes a systemic analysis the comprehensive value of GI from three aspects of economic value,social value and humanistic value. Secondly, it discusses the effects of comprehensive value ofGI on regional agricultural economy:(1) the paper explores the way in which GI acts on regionalagricultural economy from two aspects of agriculture industrialization and agricultural brand.(2)Put the intangible assets of GI into the Solow model, and use it for analysis, the result show thatthe improvement of comprehensive value of GI can effectively improve the regional capital perperson and per capita output.(3) Based on the theoretical analysis, the paper constructs aneconometric model to empirical research, and its results show that humanistic value of GI has anegative impact on regional agricultural economy, but economic value and social value of GI cansignificantly promote regional agricultural economic growth, comprehensive value of GI has asignificant positive effect on development of regional agricultural economic under thecomprehensive function of economic value, social value and humanistic value. Finally, putsforward the corresponding policy recommendations, points out the inadequacy of the paper andthe direction of further researching.
