The industry has always been a competitive industries in agriculture production in our country. It not only has satisfied the people’s consumption demand, but also has made significant contributions to farmers’ income, rural labor employment, food transformation, and the promotion of the development of related industries. Since the reform and the opening up, China’s live pig breeding industry after the sustainable development of high-speed, now as the world’s power production of live pigs. However, with the pig industry in our country in the world status is not consistent, pigs in China import and export trade volume accounted for only less than3%of the total amount of world trade of live pigs. At the same time, the pig trade situation of our country in recent years went worse. Given the pig industry in animal husbandry and the strategic position of the agricultural economy in our country, the abnormal trend is enough to catch our attention and focus.In this paper, first of all, on the basis of the theory of international competitiveness, built a comparative analysis of international competitiveness of China and the United States pigs research framework; Second, through the detailed data of pig production in China and the United States trade present situation has carried on the system of interpretation and the summary, and on the basis of the import and export statistics data, the net export index, trade competitiveness index, international market share, revealed comparative advantage index and other indicators, the system of the comparison and analysis between the two big pig international competitiveness of major producer, points out that the international competitiveness of China’s pigs gap with the United States in2007after expanding quickly; Again, the system analysis of the factors affecting international competitiveness of our country pigs direct and indirect factors, and points out that the cost of production of several years of growth and the quality of the pig product safety issues are the most direct reason of our country’s international competitiveness of live pigs; Finally, combined with China’s specific national conditions, from technology, industrialization, quality and safety, put forward the pertinence suggestion to the government role.
