Citrus fruit is rich in nutrition,and widely cultivated in the world.China is the largestproducer of citrus,while is not a major exporter,export trade is constrained by manyfactors,which affected the development of China’s export trade largely.Thus,by analyzing thedevelopment status and export trade of Chinese citrus,finding the main problems that exist inthe export trade,pointing out the mian factors which affecting citrus export trade and puttingforward corresponding countermeasures.This has very important implications for improvingthe Chinese citrus export market structure and promotting the development of the citrusindustry.This study adopt the analysis which combine theory and practice,apply internationalmarket share and trade competitiveness index to analyse the world of citrus production andtrading competition from2000to2012. Take a comparative analysis to research the citrusdevelopment status of Chinese and foreign from cultivation area,species structure, tradestructure,and market structure.Find the international competitiveness of Chinese citrusindustry is weak and citrus export has the following main issues:One, the citrus industrydevelopment has lagged behind.Second,the government has lack of the support for citrusindustry.Third,the citrus export product structure can not meet the need of worldmarket.Fourth, excessive pesticide residues, encounter barriers to trade.While the main factors affecting the Chinese citrus exports were summarized.Thefollowing main points:(1) Price and production cost:production cost increase substantially during citrusproduction process weaken the lower price advantage of Chinese citrus export.(2) The differences of export types and quality: the share of high quality citrus is low,andthe export types do not match to the demand of world market.(3) Trade barriers and disputes: Foreign countries set up technical barriers duringimporting citrus from China,which impact Chinese citrus export largely.(4) Pesticide residues and heavy metal content: the high content of pesticide residues andheavy metal not only have an impact on the growth of Chinese citrus,the development of citrusexport will also affected.(5) Maturity focus:Chinese citrus maturity structure is irrational.Maturity is tooconcentrated, which causing seasonal oversupply and affecting citrus export markets.By analyze the factors of Chinese citrus exports, Made the following suggestions:One,optimize the variety and maturity structure,adjust the production layout. Second,increase the technology content, adjust investment structure. Third, promote the export of citrus in linewith world market demand.Fourth,strengthen the commercialization of citrus mining andprocessing capacity. Fifth,with government,associations and other industry organizations,actively respond to trade barriers.
