Since the1990s, with the accelerating process of economic globalization and theincreasingly fierce market competition, strategic management has become the core ofthe management of commercial banks,“establish basic strategy becomes the key tosurvival” for commercial banks. As the American business entrepreneur Wood whowas first successfully applied strategy to the field of business operation said:“Business is like war, as long as the enterprises’ main strategy is correct, even if thereare tactical mistakes, it could also to be successful”. Thus, it is an important factor todevelop the right strategy and make adjustments timely in order to ensure theeverlasting of a enterprise. A large amount of enterprise management practices haveshown that many enterprises operate successfully just because they have drafteddevelopment strategies suitable for their enterprises; and many enterprises operate failjust because they failed to draft strategies suitable for their enterprises. Thusdevelopment strategies of enterprises play a vital role for the survival anddevelopment of enterprises.This paper takes Bank of China Yantai Branch (short as the Bank of China Yantai)as the research object, makes a systematic study of its development strategies inrecent years, and then put forward the idea to build the future development strategies.Firstly, the paper makes a brief introduction to the background, the significance of thestudy, domestic and foreign research status and structure and content, then illustratesthe connotations and characteristics of strategic management, gives a concisedescription to its elements processes and several common analyzing methods,including PEST analysis, five forces model analysis, SWOT analysis etc.On this basis, the paper focuses on the current development status of Bank ofChina Yantai, in order to meet the the reality requirements such as reinforce scientificmanagement results, break the bottlenecks, respond to market challenges effectivelyand adapt of external regulatory etc.,this paper makes a comprehensive view on itshistorical development, current contents of strategies, and then gives an in-depthanalysis of the internal and external environmental factors the bank faced, forward-looking to put forward new strategic objectives and overall strategic choicesfor this bank,which takes the "pursuit of excellence, continued growth, to create thebest services,the best management,the highest efficiency,the strongest team,first-class reputation of the best commercial banks in Shandong province"as the maincontent, to ensure the strategies could truly reflects the its mission and its idea ofmaximize the value of itself.Finally, this paper gives a clear shoot of the main pointsand steps,feedback and control, and guaranteeing system for the implementation ofthe strategies, in order to provide practical experience and guidance to enhance thebank’score competitiveness through this case study.Meanwhile, to ensure thecompletion of the strategic objectives,discussed the main points of implementation ofthe strategy details through the four aspects, accelerating the transformation ofdevelopment structures, and improving institutional mechanisms,strengthening riskcontrol management and building a comprehensive brand image,and further givessome corresponding specific recommendations to the feedback and control, as well asbuilding security system covering the "organization,human resources,culture"factors.Finally,the paper gives a brief conclusion and outlook.
