Research On The Status And Development Of Preponderance Fruit Industry In Fuzhou

In this paper, the main production areas of Fuzhou characteristic fruit, including Chinese olive, plum, green plum, and Fuzhou citrus, were interviewed and surveyed to collect related data information and production status of these fruits. The status quo, advantage, and existing problems of characteristic fruit production were analysed with the corresponding solutions and suggestions put forward.1. The factors which restricted the development of Fuzhou fruit production were mainly as follows. The breeding and introduction of new varieties were lagged; the funding support and the guided policy from the government were inadequate; the facts of information block, disjunction among the processes of production, supply, and sale, poor quality and brand construction, lack of industry culture promotion and leading enterprises drive are also involved factors.2. With the rapid development of fruit industry in Fuzhou, a breed structure mainly of plum, citrus,chinese olive, loquat, and longan came into being. The production area of these five fruits were19,13,11,9and6million mu, respectively, which took up82%of the total area. The yield of these five fruits was65,95,25,32, and20thousand tons respectively, which constituted74%of the fruit total yield. The production area of plum witnessed little change in, while plum production declined significantly in2010. As for the plum yield, there was a marked falling tendency over the years from2008to2011. The production decrease in2008was due to the fact that fruit price was so low in several years ago that some fruit grower did poor management and lose heart to plum growing. During recent ten years, the production area of Fuzhou citrus has declined from3to2million mu, with the yield decreased from30to20thousand tons. The reasons were the poorer quality and the fierce competition from other similar fruits.3. As for the chinese olive industry in Fuzhou, fresh chinese olive is getting more popular and its price is reasonable depite its small number. The chinese olive industry has been rapidly developing in recent years and it is predicted that chinese olive yield will get larger with price getting lower in ten years.In addition, some outstanding problems in chinese olive industry were analysed in the paper, such as seedling growing method, severe pest and disease damage, product lacking in innovation, and the gradual saturation of fresh chinese olive market.4. As for the plum industry in Fuzhou, people’s greater demand has promoted its price and the whole plum industry has been improving steadily. The dried plum in Yongtai is mainly produced from the breed of Furong (95%). The plum industry in Fuzhou is facing problems such as simplex variety, lack of leading enterprises drive, and inadequacy of production investment, so corresponding solutions were put forward according to the local production situation. The solutions included the improvement in breeding and farmers’ management, reconstruction of some old orchards, nomalized production, and support of leading enterprises in processing.5. Furthering the changes of Fuzhou citrus industry, its growing area has declined from3to2million mu in nearly past10years, with the yield decreased from30to20thousand tons. Up to now, the Fuzhou citrus industry has reached its rock bottom.Therefore, to creat high-quality product and promote profit, corresponding solutions were recommended.
