A Study On Innovation Network Structure Of Zhangjiang Biopharmaceutical Cluster

As an important industrial organization form of modern economic development, industrial cluster has played a huge role in regional economic development. However, in recent years, with the deepening of economic globalization, the complexity of the innovation has increased greatly. The innovation organization form of clusters has changed from the traditional linear model to network innovation model which more emphasis on the networking and interaction between the innovation subjects. It is more obvious in knowledge and technology-intensive industry cluster, such as biomedical industry cluster. The characteristics with high-tech, high investment and high risk of bio-pharmaceutical industry determine the firms cannot finish the whole process of drug development and manufacturing independently. In order to survive in the fierce competition, the biomedical firms have to improve innovation efficiency by reducing the costs and risks of dug development and network-based innovation has become an inevitable choice for the biomedical enterprise.This paper takes Zhangjiang Bio-medical industry cluster for example, to research the structure of cluster’s innovation network. First, on the basis of review relevant research literature of home and abroad, introduced some relevant concepts and theories; then depicted and analyzed the elements and structure of cluster’s innovation network, and on this basis, combined the characteristics of Zhangjiang Bio-medical industry’s development, constructed Zhangjiang Bio-medical cluster Innovation Network structure model, which consists of the main network, support network, environmental network and external network; Finally, the paper also based on the union Patent of enterprises, explored the structure of Zhangjiang Bio-medical innovation network, and proposed some suggestions to optimizing the structure of cluster’s network. The study found that cooperation among the main innovators is growing, cluster’s innovation network is forming, but the internal network is still less; external network becoming the main driving force of cluster development, and in the process of cluster’s external networks formation, geographical proximity plays an important role; at the same time, innovation network of cluster also presents the structure of "core-periphery", linkages between enterprises are still mostly limited to Derivatives business and parent companies.
