Jiangxi Province, located on the southern bank of the middle and lower reachesof Yangtze River, is relatively backward in soc-economic, thus becoming a typicallyunderdeveloped area in central China. The research conducted on the spatial patternvariation and the regional effect about the land intensive use in the developmentzone of Jiangxi will be conducive to an objective understanding of its spatial pattern, influential mechanism and contribution to the region’s development theoretically,Inthe meanwhile, it is also of great significance in upgrading the development modeland even in achieving sustainable development in the development zone or the wholeregion practically. This paper will focus on illuminating the changing laws andinfluential factors of spatial pattern of land intensive use in the development zone, aswell as assessing the effect of regional economy, society and ecological environmentof land intensive use in the zone quantitatively. With respect to identifying the lawsand factors, this study will adopt Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) andgeo-statistical methods, pertaining to evaluating the regional effect, this study willemploy classical statistical models and geographic detector measurement model, respectively. At the same time, with the attempt to establishing the index system ofregional benefit analysis of land intensive use, we will adopt the DEA model intendedto evaluate the relative effectiveness to analyze the regional effect of land intensiveuse of the development zone in the perspective of intensive use. The main conclusionsincluded:(1) In2008, the average level of the land intensive use was61.87in Jiangxi, while in2011,it was76.80. During these years, the level increased significantly.Although the scores of individual land use structures all showed substantial growth inthe same period, the growth rate of different levels of development zones was notconsistent.(2)The spatial analysis shows that the scores of land intensive use in thedevelopment zone present a porphyritic and discrete distribution trend, and the trendis more obvious than before. From2008to2011, the level of land intensive use of thezone increased remarkably in different degrees, especially the county regions withrelatively high economic level and good infrastructure conditions such as thetransportation system. In the recent four years, the scores of land intensive use showedthat the degree of its spatial heterogeneity became lower and lower, and it also presented an obvious characteristic of anisotropy. The scores variation insoutheast--northwest direction of the zone was most dramatic.(3)The research shows that the level of land intensive use in differentdevelopment zones in Jiangxi province varied in2011,among which Poyang LakeEcological Economic Zone ranked the highest as78.52, followed by the north part as77.69, the middle part as76.27,the south part as75.01. The northern region became ahigh level and speed growth areas in land intensive use, especially Nanchang andJiujiang which has ranked the highest in land intensive use.(4)The stepwise regression analysis reveals the fact that the rate of land built, integrated volume ratio, building density, the rate of industrial land, industrial landconsolidated volume rate, intensity of fixed asset investment of industrial land, outputintensity of industrial land had a significant and positive effect on the scores of landintensive use in the development zones of Jiangxi Province, While the2008score ofland intensive use and land development rate did not affect significantly. Moreover,The results of geography detector model demonstrate that the intensity of fixed assetinvestment of industrial land and output intensity of industrial land had the greatesteffect on the spatial pattern of land intensive use in the zone, followed by the2008score of land intensive use, integrated volume ratio, the rank of development zones, industrial land consolidated volume rate, land development rate, building density, rateof land built, then the rate of industrial land.(5)In2011,by assessing11prefecture-level cities in Jiangxi, it’s found thatonly in the development zone of Nanchang, the land intensive use had positive effecton regional economic development performance, and only in Pingxiang City andNanchang, the land intensive use of the development zone had good influence on thesocial development. When it comes to the impact of land intensive use on the regionalecological environment, Nanchang, Yinchun, Yingtan and Pingxiang presentedsubstantial effect. While in other regions, it has varying degrees of unavailability. Tosum up, the effectiveness of land intensive use of the development zone in Jiangxiprovince on regional ecological environment level is more obvious than the regionaleconomy and social effect.
