The Research On The Social Responsibility Of Commercial Banks In China

Corporate social responsibility is the product of the social and economicdevelopment to a certain stage, is the performance of the progress of humancivilization. It appears beyond the previous scope that the enterprise only responsiblefor its shareholders, the enterprise should also emphasizes on all of thestakeholders, including shareholders, government, employees, customers and so on. Thecommercial bank as a special enterprise, is the core of the modern socialeconomy. After the baptism of the global financial crisis, researching on the socialresponsibility of commercial banks in China is particularly urgent and important.This paper firstly reviewed the related theories on corporate social responsibilityand social responsibility of commercial banks, and then defined the content and objectof social responsibility of commercial banks. Secondly, it summarized the practiceprocess and achievements of the social responsibility of China’s commercial banks, andon the basis of researching on ten of the major domestic commercial banks’ socialresponsibility reports, made an overview of the recent progress in China’s commercialbanks to fulfill their social responsibility. In approving the positive progress, at the sametime, this paper also put forward the deficiencies of our country’s commercial bank inthe implementation of social responsibility, and further analyzed the causes of theproblem in deep. Finally, by drawing on the advanced experiences of foreigncountries, it put forward the countermeasures to improve the performance of socialresponsibility of our country’s commercial banks.
