The concept of "One Village One Product" was first demonstrated by the governor of Morihiko Hiramatsu, in Oita, Japan1979. Over35years passed and lots of other countries have used its idea for reference proactively, not only Thailand Philippines Mongolia Paraguay and other developing countries included, America Australia and many developed countries have also learned even gained huge from it. In the1980s, China started to absorb the concept of "One Village One Product" and has developed and practiced it.It is time that economic and social development in urban and rural areas must be coordinated in China, and work relating to agriculture, rural areas and farmers must be done well. So this idea of "One Village One Product" is contributing a lot in the course of rural construction.Quite a few agriculture problems were figured out in the last few years, however, the issue of transferring and developing culture in the rural areas still leaving much to be desired.Building a harmonious rural society is a whole process of economic, social,political,scientific,technological,cultural,ecological,and so on.Not only the method of "One Village One Product" applies to agriculture products processing, but also suits perfectly in the construction and development of rural culture, which includes a significant traditional element—ethnical handicraft. The concept of "One Village One Product" could integrate village,craft and industry with internal and external elements into a diverse union of rural economy, society and culture.Thailand, after Japan, has become one of the most effective countries that have put "One Village One Product" into act. Under the influence of national type switching and creative industry developing, the government has found a unified and profound Thai "One Village One Product"—OTOP. However, the fact that lacking of theoretical method is setting back the developing procedure. Hence, more information and successful experience from all over the world is highly needed. After plenty of literature reviewing and local investigating especially the symbolic handicraft Thai "One Village One Product", the author did a systematical analysis. Meanwhile, the author also compared two types of "One Village One Product" between Thai and Yunnan, concerning about the circumstances and issues of Yunnan’s handicraft "One Village One Product". Therefore this thesis brings out some inspirations and thoughts about the development of rural culture "One Village One Product" based on handicraft.
