With the research on city space increases, more and more scholars begin to payattention to this issue, when they study on city life space problems, the place hasbecome an indispensable part of them. Place attachment theory, which is one of themain research content of place theory, is connected by the interaction of people andplace, involving in emotion, cognition and behavior of three kinds of factors. And toimprove the quality of city life space, depth to the social area in various places is ofgreat concern. Therefore, the research on the city community has been graduallydeepping into the micro location of the retail trade. To retail space location of Chinacity community as an example to study place attachment theory has great significancein the development of the micro space principles of Chinese city social geography,contributing to build harmonious city community space at the same time, reformingthe urban community planning more humanistic.This paper is divided into five parts, the first part is the introduction, introducesthe research background of the topic, research significance, research content andmethod, innovation and research framework and ideas. The second part summarizesthe connotation of place attachment, the progress of related research in China andabroad, research dimension of place attachment, measurement method, influencefactors of place attachment and deconstruction community humanistic locationconcept. The third part summarizes the related concept and principle of citycommunity retail location, analysis of cognitive factors of city community retaillocation. The fourth part focus on the empirical study of three supermarkets in Xi’anCity, which distribute in different position, sum up and analysis the relativity betweenplace attachment theory and cognitive factor of the retail location. The fifth partsummarizes the research conclusion, puts forward the optimization countermeasure ofcity community retail location based on the place attachment theory, and to explore thecontent and direction on further study.
