An Empirical Research On The Technology Spillover Effects Of ICT On Traditional Industries

As an important channel for the transfer and the diffusion of industries, the technology spillover iscurial for the industrial development and the economic growth. As ICT industry has a strong capability oftechnical output and technical radiation, the technology spillover effect of the ICT industry is concernednaturally. The technology spillover effect of ICT industry has become a hot topic in this field in recentyears. There is commonness and potential difference in the technology and products between ICT industryand traditional industry, which made the technology spillover prone to produce in the interaction processbetween the two industries. Study on the technology spillover can make us know it more clearly, which isbenefit for using the technology spillover of ICT industry and improving the advancement of traditionalindustry.Based on the domestic and overseas related literature summarized, firstly this dissertation begins withthe interaction between ICT industry and traditional industry and the essential characteristics of technologyspillover, and explores the mechanism of technology spillover between ICT industry and traditionalindustry, including the process of technology spillover, channels and influencing factors etc. Secondly,according to the theory of technology spillovers, a model and some index are constructed to measuretechnology spillover effect. Meanwhile the related data is collected to test and analyze the technologyspillover effect between ICT industry and traditional industry. Thirdly, from quantitative point of view,combined with panel data, the empirical study on the technology spillover effect is employed to do. Theresults show that R&D spillover is more obvious than embodied product flow spillovers and there isdifference between the technology spillover effects between the industries. In the last part of this paper, thestrategies that traditional industry absorbs the technology spillover from ICT industry in order to upgradethe development of the industry are given.
