| The Pan-Pearl River Delta economic cooperation is well known as the greatestone in China ever since, and the example of regional economic cooperation at thesame time. The transfer of manufacturing industries from the developed regions to theunder-developed ones is one of its missions and goals. Furthermore, this transfer hasastronomical impacts on the establishment of modern industrial system, which wouldpromote adding the incomes in the under-developed regions and reduce inter-regionaleconomic differences. It s critical not only to the healthy and sustainable developmentof economy, but make good example. The exploration of how the logistics industryaffects the transfer of manufacturing industries seems to be of great significance. This paper aims to describe the trends and tracks of both the transfer ofmanufacturing industries and the logistics industry, based on the intensive studies ofliteratures. Then a theoretical model was established to have penetrating insightregardinghow the logistics industry affects the transfer of manufacturing industries, from the perspective of logistics costs. Moreover, an empirical analysis was arrangedto inspect this particular relationship.Three conclusions were made as follow: firstly, the transfer of manufacturingindustries demonstrated a pattern of nonrandom distribution, which meant thehigh-value districts tended to cluster, while the low-value districts tended to cluster.Secondly, the logistics industry within Pan-Pearl River Delta has well developed, butin a way of less efficient model of growth, while the inter-regional differences arehuge. It s on the primary stage of development. Thirdly, the logistics industrydisplayed strongly influences on the transfer of manufacturing industries, particularly, the scale of logistics industry, logistics infrastructure and the environmental costshowed spillover effects, while the labor cost had opposite effect. |
