A Study On The Sustainable Development Strategy Of Small Towns In Hubei Province

Hubei Province is a major traditional agricultural province with a large agricultural population and intensive agricultural labor force. Restricted by the high population pressure and the severe shortage of resources, the development of small towns can absorb a large amount of surplus labor force, adjust the industrial and employment structure and the urban-rural relations, advance the development of the second and tertiary industries in rural areas, alleviate the problem of vast population and limited farmland and promote the scale merit of agriculture, which can fundamentally solve the problems concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers. The present thesis, by the research methods of material collection, comparison and example analysis, aims to approach the subject of construction of small towns from the perspective of urban-rural integration.Based on a general overview of the development of small towns throughout the world, it can be concluded that the development of small towns is an inevitable step in the course of urbanization as well as the key to urban-rural integration and social-economic development. Due to the differences in terms of environment, population, resources and social economy, developed and developing countries are possessed of their own characteristics in the development of small towns. Under the national policy of coordinating urban-rural development and implementing urban-rural integration, it is worthwhile to research on the development strategies of small towns with regional characteristics in Hubei Province.This thesis is based on Chinese Communist Party eighteen proposed in the report "to promote the integration of urban and rural development," the spirit of the basic theory of Marxism as a guide, use of technology philosophy, ecological philosophy, the theory of sustainable development, viewpoint and method, elaborated small towns as well as the basic concept of sustainable development; analysis of the development of small towns in Hubei Province, the main problems and reveal their root causes; small town home and abroad through the development model and successful experience, combined with the development of small towns in Hubei Province the actual situation, put forward the development of small towns in Hubei Province suggestions and measures. Thesis consists of four chapters:The first chapter describes the origin and background of research significance. The second chapter describes the development of small towns in Hubei situation and existing problems, mainly from the population, infrastructure, industrial enterprises, administrative profiles and other aspects. The third chapter introduces the development of small towns and abroad and present, by studying the development of small towns around the summarized characteristics and experience. The fourth chapter is countermeasure research, discuss the vision of urban-rural integration development problems of small towns.
