In recent years, food security has become a hot issue with the continuous growth ofnet food imports. An excessive import of food may certainly have a negative influenceon the food security of our nation, for food plays a crucial role as not only commoditybut more importantly, a strategic resource. Thus, based on learning and summarizing theresearch of previous scholars, this paper studies through the issue of China’s grainsafety from the perspective of food trade. In this article, the status quo of world food trade and that of China have beencompared and analyzed with supportive data which covers main products like rice, corn, soybean and wheat. At the same time, description has been given focusing on thecurrent situation of food safety of China. By using the Game Theory Approach, thispaper has analyzed the different strategies in the food trade of developing anddeveloped countries, and conclusion has been made that free trade of crop is extremelyunfavorable for developing countries. As a developing country, it highly recommendedthat China not completely rely on food trade, but ensure that trade adjustment is madeappropriately on the basis of the stability of domestic food industry. Based on this, theimpact of China’s grain trade on food safety could be described in three parts. Firstly, from the point of the influence on domestic food industry made by foreign food.Secondly, consequence of import dependency and how it would affect grain security.Thirdly, how import concentration influenced the food safety. To draw a conclusion,China’s dependence on food imports may appropriately raise, and lower the importconcentration, moreover, improve the ability to avoid the risk of food trade. Accordingto the analysis and conclusion above, recommendations about food safety policy havealso been presented.
