Studyon The Digital Reading Guidance System Of Chinese Ancient Classical Texts

The definition of ancient books is the texts that are written in ancient Chinese with traditional carriers before the Revolution of 1911. Ancient classical text is included in the category of ancient books whose features are authority and typicalness. The essence of traditional culture is recorded in the ancient classical texts. So reading the ancient classical texts is the most direct and effective way to study the traditional culture.Language barriers and lack of ancient’s common sense are the double barriers to read ancient classical texts for modern Chinese people. So reading guidance for ancient classical text is necessary for ordinary readers, instead of the researchers. While the current reading guidance which library as the subjectinstitute is inactive. What’s more, the databases of ancient books are usually designed only for professional researchers. Keeping and researching are the purposes of these databases. Considering this, this study considers the reading guidance of ancient classical text as the research object and explores the method of reading guidance in the digital environment.At present, the domestic research mainly focuses on the research about library review and digitization of ancient books. In the former, the work of library’s reading guidance has been transferred from only depending on traditional ways to developing the online reading guidance. What’s more, the study of readers becomes more flexible with more dynamic conditions.There alsohas been some progress with the research about the reader stratification and reading psychology and behavior. In the latter, both domestic and foreign research focused on practical aspects, a number of research projects and databaseshad been established. The trend of international cooperationbecomes more and more obvious.This study focused on the guided reading from the perspective of library. Firstly, itsurveyed and analysed of the needs and behavior of readers for reading ancient books. Secondly, supported by the theoryof digital bibliography and referenced the methods ofcollection and index, it selected the Analects of Confucius assample text, and tried to deconstruct it from three dimensions of figure, material and rule, literary quotation, and then interlinked themto the original text. At last, it designed and constructed a digital reading guidance system of ancient classic books with the networking and digital technologies.On the one hand, this study proposed to enrich the research contents of ancient books digitization from sorting, preservation to guidance, which includes digital preservation, processing, retrieval, collation and annotate, reading guidanceand other procedures. On the other hand, it promoted the reading guidancedepth from bibliography level further into the content level, for exploring the relationship among the text contents. As an empirical study, a digital reading guidance system of ancient classical books, "Confucius Said Digital Reading Guidance System", was built, which can hopefully provide some references for the digital reading guidance research of the ancient books in the future.This study is justa primary exploration, inevitably existing some shortcomings and loopholes, so it needs more furtherresearch in the future.
