Simultaneous polarization imaging technology can obtain the real-time polarization imaging of targets. Since the state of polarization of optical radiation will change through the reflection on body surface, and the change is closely related to the physical properties of the reflection surface, including material, roughness and geometric surface form. The geometric surface form can be attained through detection of polarization on body surface, so this technique is widely used in the fields of military investigation, medical testing, spaceexploration, materialacceptance, meteorology, marine characteristic analysis.Underwater object detection is a key technique for marine development and costal defense technology development. According polarization information of sea waves, we can claculate its geometric surfaces and solve the problems of target distortion of underwater targets. This paper studied the Double CCD Polarization Imaging System(SIP-DSWP, Simultaneous Imaging Polarimetry with Double Separate Wallaston Primes,) and its polarization information processing methods,which is the groundwork to detect underwater object and to solve the problems of target distortion of underwater targets.This article discussed machine the structural design of the SIP-DSWP hardware system and focused on the polarization image processing methods of SIP-DSWP system, including adaptive polarization image segmentation algorithm and highly accurate polarization image registration algorithm. In order to obtain accurate polarization information, we calculated the instrument matrix of SIP-DSWP system and designed the SIP-DSWP software system. SIP-DSWP hardware system and its software system consitute a whole system, which makes it eaaier for users to get polarization information of targets.The experimental results of combining SIP-DSWP hardware system and its software show that, SIP-DSWP hardware system has compact structure and good spectroscopical effect. The components and parts of SIP-DSWP hardware system meet coaxiality with each other, and the last stages of assembly make the SIP-DSWP system has the appropriate adaptability to general outdoor environment; Polarization image segmentation algorithm adapts different targets of different distances; The precision of image registration algorithm can reach 0.1 pixel; Instrument calibration matrix method can effectively improve the detection precision of the polarization image information. SIP-DSWP system realizes the synchronous acquisition of polarimetric image, and extraction and display of polarization information, which has made the extraction of the polarization information of the target easier.
