Nowadays, since global positioning technology and mobile communication networks’ popularization and development, it’s possible to achieve a high precision real-time vehicle monitoring system. And the popularization of Android devices and digital map products provided a viable way to monitor on mobile platform.Relevant technologies and principles of vehicle monitoring system is discussed in this paper. In order to solve the problems of traditional monitoring system, a GPS vehicle monitoring system by using mobile terminals(such as Android devices) are proposed.The working mechanism of Android system, Baidu Maps, Baidu cloud environment, data transfer format, MySQL Database, background management system, basic hardware of terminal and the architecture of client application software are introduced.The major work of the prototype design contains: selection of development components; designs and implements of the PHP function module which provide client authentication and longitude & latitude data provider on BAE cloud; MySQL DDB(Distributed Database) development which meet the needs of vehicle monitoring system. Baidu Map SDK and Android SDK documentation and software’s instruction have also been analyzed. Then the data interaction between server and terminal based on JSON(JavaScript Object Notation) was realized. And the fuzzy control algorithm for terminal upload traffic control strategies was studied.Application software which provides real-time vehicles tracking playback function was achieved in the extended development of Baidu Map Software Development Kit. And the experiments show that the prototype system is work properly.
