Propagation environment of wireless channel in mobile communication system is becoming more and more complex, especially in some regions of complex terrain field predictions that the terrain information requirements are very high,which often needs to invest a lot of manpower survey experiment, the experiment is real data, but it requires spending more human and financial resources. However, computer science, modern mathematics, the rapid development of geographic information system(GIS), which makes traditional radio propagation model as the theoretical basis, combined with the development of geographic information system of digital map from the propagation path profile data for the propagation prediction calculation, which for field survey and experimental results provide the theory basis.The subject is the radio wave propagation prediction calculation software prototype of the development and application of geographic information system(GIS) in the traditional research of electromagnetic wave propagation model, of which the main choice of the city, hills and islands region as the research object. First,it introduces the radio wave propagation characteristics,which for traditional propagation mode ls are described in detail.Then,based on the platform of Arc GIS Engine,it’s combined with the development of C# to support generic TIF format map digital map software, then design achieves the functions to map 2D profile data acquisition and data unit conversion, and detailed description of the realization of the digital map of software development. To achieve propagation model of modeling, which uses VC + + MFC visual development tools,and uses C + + and COM components mixed programming, which combined with the spread of digital map structure propagation model prediction software, finally, through the model of Cost231-Walfisch-Ikegami, the egli model, Longley rice model modeling, which achieves the city, hills and islands region according to the digital map t hat obtains user drawning 2D path profile data,to path loss propagation simulation analysis, which realizes the digital map based radio propagation prediction,which is integrated simulation system software for radio wave propagation prediction.
