Due to the explosive development of wireless communication technology, video services have been moving in the direction of higher quality, mobility and intelligence. However compared with the bandwidth resource required by new services, the existing resource is insufficient. So, how to allocate the limited bandwidth resource efficiently and fairly to meet the QoS demand of different users becomes a hot research area recently.Based on the game theory, this thesis studies bandwidth allocation scheme over wireless video communication and proposes a new rate allocation scheme based on balance of supply and demand over wireless networks, a new bandwidth allocation scheme for multimedia communications over wireless networks using punishment and motivation factor and a new method of jointing power and rate control for video communication over cognitive radio networks. The main contents are as follows:(1) To solve the issue of multi-user wireless video communication, a rate allocation framework based on balance of supply and demand in micro-economics is proposed. The method takes full consideration of the telecom operator profit. The price of bandwidth will be decided when the telecom operator and users reach the maximum profits at the same time. The contents of video and priority of users are both considered in users’ utility function. Simulation results show that this method exists Nash equilibrium and equilibrium price, and has a better transmission quality. Meanwhile this method can flexibly allocate bandwidth based on the demand of services.(2) A scheme based on game theory is proposed to solve the problem of video communications over wireless networks. This scheme considers of telecom operator profits. This thesis takes full consideration of the influences from users’ services and use punishment and positive factors in telecom operator’s utility function. The users’ utility function, based on fairness, bring in punishment of network congestion due to occupying bandwidth. Finally, compared with traditional methods, the simulation results show the method in this thesis has more fairness and is more flexible in bandwidth allocation.(3) This thesis proposes a method of joint power and rate allocation scheme based on the game theory for video communication over cognitive networks. The utility function of the primary user includes both the interference from secondary users and his own profits. Taking full consideration of the feature that different secondary users need discrepant bandwidth and power when transmitting different video, utility function based on video services is created in this thesis. It has fairness and effectiveness in resource allocation. The calculation of power price is based on the principle of maximizing the primary user’s utility function. Simulation results show that this method will reduce the interference of the primary. Moreover, the results show that the method has more fairness on bandwidth allocation.
