Virtual storage technology can provide storage capacity for massive data. However, virtual storage technolog faces some issues, such as storage resources monitoring in real-time and virtual hard disk resource allocation in the existing Internet applications. This thesis researches on the issues of storage virtualization resources monitoring and virtual hard disk resource allocation in the environment of the future network.This thesis puts forward a method of dynamic allocation of virtual hard disk resources. This method can distribute hard disk resource flexibly based on the needs of data storage. A virtual storage prototype system is designed and implemented based on this method. The prototype system has four functional modules that include virtual hard disk storage resource monitoring, resource allocation, virtual hard disk implementation, and virtual hard disk resource management. In storage resource monitoring module, in order to resolve the issue of monitoring information inefficiently that the existing methods exchange information and monitoring information with the OpenStack platform through the application programming interface, this thesis proposes approach that deploys monitoring agent in networked host,access to virtual machine original monitoring information directlyand analyze and process the information by the OpenStack platform. Then, it improves the efficiency of monitoring the resource. When the monitoring module knows storage space is insufficient, virtual disk resource allocation module needs to allocate storage space for the system. In order to resolve the issue that the existing method allocates manually virtual hard disk resources through a command or interface, the monitoring data is collected automatically and disk resources are allocated automatically for the virtual storage system in time. In the virtual disk module, after the virtual hard disk is allocated to the storage system, in order to resolve the issue that the virtual disk can only be used as a partition of the virtual machine and can not be used directly. this thesis designs and implements the mechanisms of automatic formatting and hanging the disk of networked host. Finally, in order to enhance the capability of managing the virtual storage system by the administrators or users, the virtual hard disk resource management module is designed and implemented.This thesis implements a prototype system based on OpenStack, an open source cloud computing platform. The functionality of data storage in the prototype system is tested. The test results show that virtual storage system prototype solution based on openstack can meet data storage requirements. Therefore, the virtual cloud storage scheme is validated.
