Within the development of information technology, education and self-education has rapidly changed. From E-Learning to M-Learning, now it’s U-Learning. In a U-Learning environment, learners can access learning resources anytime anywhere. They also can share resources to anyone in the environment. Since U-Learning environment has massive learning resources, it’s hard for learners to find the resource they really need. U-Learning system can know learner’s purpose by using context-awareness technology and provide learners a personalized learning service. This thesis presents the design and implementation of a U-Learning System Based on Context-Awareness, which named Smart Learning.Based on the analysis of the complex factors of U-Learning environment, learners and learning resources, this thesis design a RESTful Web Service architecture which provides learners with learning service. This architecture can make sure that learners use a variety of different devices and network access can carry out learning activities well. This thesis designs the personalized inference rules based on context information of learners through analyzing the characteristic of learners’ learning context and learning resources of U-Learning environment. Using these rules Smart Learning can provides learners with personalized learning resource recommendation based on the context-awareness. This thesis completes the design of the overall system architecture and key components of each subsystem based on the analysis of the user needs, functional needs and performance of the U-Learning System. Smart Learning takes the Android devices as the client, and implement the server using Spring MVC, iBatis and REST technology. After implemented, the test of basic functions has been done. The results show that the system meets the design requirements, and works well.
