Selective Laser Melting technology is a kind of rapid prototyping technology which is based on layered overlay manufacture. Its manufacturing cycle is very short and it can work with very high material utilization. Because of the Selective Laser Melting technology has not developed long time, there is not much overall research on the factors which influence the quality of the formed parts. So it is necessary to analyze the influence factors about the quality of the Selective Laser Melting.Through the study on the basic problems of the Selective Laser Melting, we can acquire the corresponding single channel fusion width of different laser power and different scanning speed. Also, the article puts forward a new way of laser scanning strategy. In this article, we try to solve the problem of edge wrapping during the process of the Selective Laser Melting and we obtained some achievement.Through the study on the relationship between the actual powder thickness and the slicing thickness, then combine with the experiment to explore how powder thickness influence on the formed products’ mechanical properties and density, then a set of optimal experimental parameters are obtained. Through the study on melt way overlap rate, we found that overlap rate only has little effects on the mechanical properties and density of the formed products within a certain limit. But when the overlap rate is too low, the surface of the formed products will be more tough and we found that it’s more appropriate when the overlap rate is 30%. Through the study on how different laser power and scan speed influence on the mechanical properties and density of the formed products, we found that when the laser power sets higher, the tensile strength will be higher, but the elongation of the formed products will be lower when the tensile strength grows higher. In general,the tensile strength of a formed product made by Selective Laser Melting is higher than a product made by forge and its elongation is a bit lower.Use the optimal experimental parameters obtained through the above study to manufacture a formed product, then we analyze the metallographic structure and the hardness of the formed products. We found that the microstructure was evenly distributed and without any obvious flaws and the hardness of the X-O-Y plane is slightly lower than the hardness of the X-O-Z plane.
