Developed in the middle of 1990s, Selective Laser Melting (SLM) is a new type of Rapid Prototyping manufacturing technology, which can be used to manufacture 3D parts directly. Increasing the precision, stability and developing corresponding software of the system, are some research hotspot over the world.With the support of National"863"Hi-Tech Research & Development Program of China, a SLM system was developed. By which, the simple 3D part can been manufactured. Following are the main results:Firstly, a SLM equipment was designed and manufactured according to its characteristics. By comparing the current open"NC"system, a control system had been developed by using the structure of"PC+ Motion Control Card".Then the numerical control system software with intelligent property right was developed emphatically on the base of above equipment, which including the functions of ordinary CAD and numeric controls. Using the methods of Object-Oriented Programming, the software realized the man-machine conversation functions for users, data processing for graphics and the control functions for the machine. What's more, three key technologies of data processing such as the interface of STL, Slicing and Scanning have been studied in detail on the basis of the basic data structure of the graphics.Finally, the influence of process parameters were also studied in this paper, and some optimum result was obtained by the machine and control software.
