The sensor network has played an important role keeping the thermal power plant runing correctly and steadily. However, currently the wire sensor network is mainly adopted by the thermal power plant in our contry; such network has severe disadvantages, such as large cost, poor accessibility and poor scalability. To sovle the above disadvantages, this paper adopts the wireless sensor network for monitoring the thermal power plant. Due to its good extensibility and convenient construction, the wireless sensor network can avoid the inherent problem of the wire sensor network. Based on adopting the wireless network to monitor the thermal power plant, the following researches are carried in this paper:1. Based on analyzing the fundction structure of the thermal power plant, the thermal power plant’s subsystem is made as the monitoring unit, and the multi-layers and multi-clusters model for monitoring such subsystem are established; then based on multi-layers and multi-clusters model, the wireless sensor fault detection scheme is designed;2. Based on the proposed multi-layers and multi-clusters wireless network model, the transmission protocals are designed; such protocals include the channel allocation method based on graph coloring theory, Priority-based CSMA/CA protocal, and the corresponding data package and frame format;3. The data upload scheme and data fuse scheme are respectively designed. Based on the proposed multi-layers and multi-clusters wireless network model, a multi-layers and multi-precision data upload sheme is proposed, and a multi-layers data fuse scheme based on decision support systems is also proposed.
