As time progressed, with the rapid development of Internet and multimedia technology, digital image technology is becoming an important means of communication on the Internet, which has brought a lot of convenience to our lives, but has also brought potential safety hazard at the same time. So the security of digital image has become people’s concern.But some traditional encryption schemes appear not to be ideal for image applications, such as DES, AES, RSA etc. using these methods, the correlation between neighbor pixels is robust, which cannot maintain the confidentiality. Image encryption algorithm based on the chaotic mapping has many own advantages with remaining the advantages of the traditional association discovery algorithm. For example, comparing some traditional encryption schemes, the sensitivity of parameter values and initial value is high in image encryption algorithm based on the chaotic mapping. Because of the chaotic characteristic, new Iterative diffusion replace traditional encryption scheme, which is most effective in reducing the rounds of encryption and saves the cost and raises the efficiency. But image encryption algorithm based on the chaotic mapping also has certain disadvantages, such as the sensitivity of key is less efficient than that of traditional algorithm.Cellular Neural Network has been put forward for a long time. In recent years, scientists start to reform some specific aspects and apply them to many actual fields such as picture processing, pattern recognition, have a good effect. Using Cellular Neural Network in chaos encryption algorithm can tremendously improve the latter shortcomings, such the insensitivity of key. According to the situation, this paper designs a new image encryption algorithm, analyzes and verifies the technical specifications. The main work and contributions of this paper are:(1)This paper introduces Cellular Neural Network. Begin with an introduction about the stage of embryonic, awane and flourishing of Artificial Neural Nets and give my outlook for tis future development. Then the paper introduces the development process of Cellular Neural Network, its own features and research direction. Exhibit the Mathematical model of Cellular Neural Network and make correlation analysis.(2)This paper emphatically introduces two typical types of chaotic mapping algorithms and the basic theory of digital image encryption. At first, the paper introduces Logistic mapping and Chen mapping, which are two typical mathematical model of chaotic mapping algorithms, and analyzes its advantages and shortcomings; then this paper summarizes the theoretical and practical value of cryptography and introduces 4 indexes to evaluate the performance of an encryption algorithm.(3)This paper puts forward a new digital image encryption algorithm.The paper overcomes the insensitivity of key in chaotic map algorithms and remains the sensitivity of parameter values and initial value. This method is simple in calculation and easy to achieve, besides, the method has a markedly protective effect on many methods of breaking ciphers.
