Chaos, principle of relativity and quantum mechanics are regarded as the three greatest discoveries in 20th century. It has been paid more attention increasingly as a proceeding project and science hotspot. Research on chaos and chaotic synchronization has developed much and are going forward from theories and emulations to the utilities in the recent years. Chaotic synchronization is the key issue of chaotic communications, which is one of the leading domains in modern communication technologies.Advantages and shortages of chaotic synchronization methods including PC method, slave-master method, coupling method, variable feedback method, adaptive method, and observer method have been investigated after researching on chaotic dynamics basis and techniques in common use in the part of chaotic synchronization.Use of high-order chaos systems especially hyper-chaotic circuits is the direction of supplication of chaos in secure communication instead of low-order systems that has been focused on in the last decade.
