Cloud computing is not only a hot topic in academic research, but also one of the biggest progress of IT field in recent years. But cloud computing as an IT innovation, its adoption still puzzled some users. For cloud computing adoption issues, some scholars have already done theoretical and empirical research and made some research achievements. However, the adoption of cloud services model is still less and only a few studies on PaaS adoption. It is undeniable that, PaaS service has changed the traditional mode of software and application development, decoupling the operation team and development team, will greatly improve the efficiency of the future software and application delivery. Therefore, how to promote the development of PaaS and improve the effect of its adoption rates is an important problem to be solved. This study based on the research of cloud computing adoption, and integrated the UTAUT model and perceived risk theory to analyze and explore impacting factors of PaaS adoption mainly from the perspective of developers. Meanwhile, the paper also explores the perceived risk dimensions in a cloud computing environment. According to the related variables in conceptual model, a well-structured questionnaire has been designed and made a survey over the network. SPSS20.0 and SmartPLS2.0 were used to analyze the collected data. The relationships between the variables and assumptions in the model also have been tested. Research indicates that under the scenario of cloud adoption, perceived risk can be divided into four dimensions:perceived security risk, perceived time risk, perceived financial risk, perceived performance risk. In addition, performance expectations, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions have a positive influence on the intention of PaaS use. However, perceived risk didn’t have a significant direct impact on performance expectations and intention of PaaS use. Finally, based on the analysis results, the current study put some suggestions for PaaS development from various perspectives to perfect the system of the cloud computing adoption. It is very important to the promotion of PaaS adoption.
