Spatial Modulation, as a new multi antenna technology, has attracted the attention of researchers in the field of wireless communication. Compared with the conventional MIMO, SM uses only one radio frequency link and antenna array in transmitter, and sends data on different antennas by switching.The bandwidth of the mobile communication system is increasing, channel environment of single carrier system shows the frequency selective more and more serious, which seriously affect the performance of the system. Although there are studies to improve the performance of single carrier modulation in frequency selective channels, the effect is limited. Multi carrier technology, especially OFDM technology is a recognized effective resistance to frequency selective fading. Therefore, the combination of SM with OFDM(SM-OFDM) will provide the possibility to improve the performance of SM in frequency selective fading channels.The number of RF link is equal to the number of transmit antennas in SM-OFDM, so the design of SM-OFDM system against the SM that improving energy efficiency. At the same time, SM-OFDM is different from MIMO-OFDM that all carriers simultaneously transmit data. In SM-OFDM system, when an antenna of a carrier in the data transmission, the same position of the carrier in other antenna remained silent. This reduces the system spectrum utilization. The subcarrier to send data is random in one antenna. This badly factors made SM-OFDM in the practical application of the system is very difficult.In this thesis, the background and development status of SM technology and related problems were studied, the basic principle of SM technology and the realization process in detail, but also the basic concept of SM-OFDM system is studied and an example in detail. However, there are some deficiencies in SM and SM-OFDM, such as, SM-OFDM system using multiple RF link and can only use the minority carrier, greatly increasing the energy loss of the system and reduce the system spectrum efficiency. Inspired by SM select transmit antennas transmit signals, and transmitting antenna position information send implicit. This thesis is based on the SM single radio link OFDM technology, namely the technology that use of random combinations of sub-carrier for carrier selection. This technology use one half of the carrier for sending signals, and will be used to select the carrier phase combination of bits as the implicit message, thus reducing the system inter carrier interference and obtaining better system performance. At the receiver, only the sorting method is used to filter the carrier position, which reduces the complexity of the system.
