Application Of OTN Technology In Broadcast And Television City Net In Nanjing

Optical transport network(OTN) is the transport network located on optical layer,adopting wavelength division multiplexing technology.The service in OTN is at wavelength level. OTN stimulates the transport network into multi-wavelength optical network stage. Due to combine advantages of optical with electrical domains, OTN havehuge transmission capacity could be completely transparent to the end to end wavelength / sub wavelength connection and protection of Telecom.It is the optimal technology to transmit large broadband service.Based on dense wavelength division multiplexing(DWDM) theory and the principle of OTN technology, this paper introduces the OTN networking scheme, demonstrates the necessity and feasibility for OTN system to be applied in Nanjing broadcast metropolitan area network(MAN). Combined with the actual multi-service situation under tri-networks integration environment in NJCATV, this paper discussesthe positive factors driven by OTN applied in Nanjing broadcast metro politan area network, and massive roleon saving fiber resources, expanding transmission capacity and enhancing network robustness.According to the network planning program, OTN has a successful applicationin Nanjing broadcast MAN.Finally focusing onthe west machine room, this paper introduces the OTN application in deploying in the core network node. The paper analyzes OTN technical features and advantages in this site, such as saving core fiber resources, having high bandwidth traffic transmission, flexible networking, easy to monitor and manage. As a result, the OTN is demonstrated to have a broad prospects in the future broadcast MAN.
