According to the study in the field of family, family functioning, atmosphere, structure, environment and so on all can have a profound and lasting impact on the form of individual personality and socialization. As the the style of emotional expression in the family environment, family expressiveness is also increasingly taken seriously. The previous researches about family expressiveness were mainly focused on the individual’s personality, self-consciousness, emotional experience, cognitive, expression and social behaviors, while facial expression recognition which is one of the emotional cognitive dimensions was rarely discussed. Foreign scholar Halberstadt(2011)found that college students from high and low expressive families had significant differences in perceptions of others’ facial expressions by experimental investigation, which has not been explored in the domestic. Micro-expression occurs when people try to hide their true feelings consciously and unconsciously, which lasts only 1/25 to 1/5s, and is more difficult to detect compared with the ordinary facial expression. Previous studies of micro-expression were focused on personality, situation, training and other variables, there’s little research on the family expressiveness which is more subtle and ultimate. What’s more, there’s no research on the effect of emotional intensity of micro-expression recognition and perception. Therefore, on the basis of previous studies, the present research adopted Ecological Micro-expression Paradigm which is more closer to the real life, with college students from high and low expressive families as the object, designed two experiments to explore the issue. Research 1 discussed the differences in the ecological micro-expression recognition between college students from high and low expressive families, and we selected two female and two male East Asian actors from the BU-3DFE stimuli, the facial expressions of neutral, sadness and happiness as background, six micro-expressions(anger, sadness, disgust, surprise, fear and happiness)as target expression.Research 2 was aiming to investigate differences in the ability to recognize and percept micro-expressions of different intensity between the college students from high and low expressive families, experimental materials were the same with Research 1, the background were still three, but micro-expressions types reduced to four:surprise, disgust, anger and fear, the intensity of the micro-expressions were four:25%, 50%, 75%, 100%.The results found that:Firstly, in the happy, sad and neutral facial contexts, there is a significant difference on the accuracy of micro-expression recognition between the individuals from high and low expressive families, specifically, the ones from high expressive families are better at recognizing than the people from low expressive families. However, there is no difference in micro-expression recognition and perception at different emotional intensity levels between the two groups, which means family expressiveness has no influence on the perception of micro-expression intensity.Secondly, in cological conditions, there’s a difference between recognition of six basic emotions(happy, sadness, surprise, fear, anger, disgust)as micro-expression, happy emotion is recognized significantly accurately than other kinds, which reflects the positive bias, followed by surprise, fear is the most difficult to recognize.Thirdly, the effect of background varies according to the type:there’s a significant background effect when the anger micro-expression is judged, the accuracy under sad emotion is significantly lower than happy and neutral. However,it doesn’t exist when the type is disgust, fear or surprise. As for the perceptions of intensity with all micro-expressions,the background effect is significant. Finally, anger, surprise with high intensity are recognized significantly accurately than low intensity. Relative to low intensity of surprise, disgust, anger and fear, high intensity ones are interpreted stronger. In addition, the intensity that people felt becomes greater as the levels of morphed intensity increases.
